CHIRATTA PUTTU
Unlike the kutti puttu which we normally make in vessels,the chiratta puttu gives a natural authentic flavour for the recipe.This can be done with any flours also ie.raggi,wheat etc.Here i have used the rice flour itself.This is being mainly made of rice flour and coconut.
INGREDIENTS:
Rice flour(puttu podi) 2cups
Grated coconut 1cup
Salt 3/4teaspn
Water as required
Coconut shells 2nos(well cleaned)
METHOD
Take the coconut shell with eyes and make a small hole on one of the eyes.(it easily comes out;it can be done with the back of a small spoon also)
In a plate put rice flour to it add in salt and mix;now add water slowly and mix gently with your fingers untill you can make a ball in your fists.But make sure that it doesnt become very watery or it forms a dough.
Now take each coconut shell place 1tablespoon of grated coconut on it than the rice flour and again top them up with the grated coconut.Take a cooker with some water in it and place the coconut shell with the filling over the whistle through the coconut shells eye and place the second coconut shell above the filling shell and wait for a few minutes untill its done.
When its being cooked flip them up to a plate and serve hot with kadala curry/chicken curriess..
