BEETROOT CURRY

Ihad come across this recipe from one of my friends mom.She made this for lunch accompanied by rice.The shallots gives an extra taste for the recipe.If you wish you can add the big onions also but the taste of shallots would be more outspeaking. Also the seasoning or the tadka also enhances the taste of the curry. LEMON COOLER

Moctails are something which we homemakers can also give a try.Its simple to mix up the ingredients and just gives a jump on having a good moctails.The very flavour of mints ads on. Lemon   juice                                    1cup Sugar syrup                                      11/2cup Mint                                                 1/2cup(crushed) Ginger                                              small(crushed) Crushed ice                                      2cups Soda                                                11/2cups       Take a tall glass/a shaker (i you have one at home) and transfer the crused ice and the lemon juice with sugar,ginger,crushed mint etc and shake it well. Now add some soda also to this and shake well.Now transfer this into moctail glasses and decorate it with some mint leaves

UNNAKAYA (MALABAR SPECIAL)

Banana big(nenthrakaya)                        4nos Coconut                                                   1cup Nuts and kismis                                      1/2cup Sugar                                                      1/2cup Oil                                                          for frying Ghee                                                      1teaspn Microwave the bananas for about 2mins and smash it nicely using your hands.You can also use the steamer and boil the bananas.Heat ghee in a pan add in the coconut,nuts,kismis and sugar and mix gently. Now make a small ball of the mashed banana mixture and flatten them on your  palms, and take a spoon full of the coconut mixture and place it on the flattened banana and fold up from both sides and make the shape of an unnakka using your hands. Now heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the bananas.You can also make a light mix of maida,salt and water and dip each unnakka in it and deep fry them.

BEETROOT HALWA

INGREDIENTS Beetroot                                                3big(finely grated) Sugar                                                    11/2cup Ghee                                                     1/2cup Water                                                    1/2cup Milk                                                       1cup Nuts and kismis                                      1/2cup Heat water in a non stick pan and add in the grated beetroot into it and let them cook,once the water gets dried up and the beetroot is almost cooked add in milk and keep on simmer.Now add in sugar and ghee and keep on stiring.Once the mix turns off the pan add the nuts and kismis and mix well and serve. You can also transfer this to a greased plate and once cooled up cut in to desired shapes..
