BRAIDED BREAD
I always wished if i could make a bread/buns which we have to normally depend on bakerys for having one. Thus during my browsing i came across this recipe, thought i would just give a try, when it turned out well i was super excited. Was soooo happy when the bun was so soft and felt proud that even i can bake something great.
- Maida 3cups
- Egg 1nos
- Sugar 1/4cup
- Milk 1/2cup
- Vegetable oil 1/2cup
- Salt 3/4teaspn
- Dried yeast 1tbspn
- Warm water 3tbspn
- Sesame seeds 1teaspn
- Egg white 1no
- In a small bowl dissolve yeast with warm water and 1/2tbspn of sugar and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Take another large bowl and mix milk, sugar, salt and oil.Mix well untill the sugar gets dissolved. To this add in 1cup of flour and mix with a spatula untill it forms a smooth paste.Beat an egg and add it to this. Then add in yeast and the remaining flour and make a smooth dough.
- Bind this well for about 10mins and keep them aside untill it doubles in volume
- After a few hours punch down the dough with your palms lightly and divide into 3equal parts and make long strips.
- Place each strips on the kitchen top in a parallel position and fix/press at one end and braid them together, fixing at each ends. Now take the egg white and brush it over the braided bread and sprinkle some sesame seeds over it.Place them onto a micrawave safe dish and let it rest for another 20mins
and bake in a preheated oven at 180deg for about 20mins.
- When its done remove from the microwave and let it rest for a few minutes and serve.
