CHATTI PATHIRI MALABAR SPECIAL

This is a pakka malabari dish famous mostly famous amongst the Muslim community.Its being mainly made at the Ramadan feasts or other auspicious occasions.This is being made mainly of maida,egg and sugar;thus its a very heavy dish.


  • Maida                                                    4tbspns
  • Egg                                                        7nos
  • Sugar                                                     11/2cups
  • Salt                                                        a pinch
  • Cashews                                                1/2cup
  • Kismis                                                    1/2cup
  • Poppy seeds                                           1/2cup
  • Oil                                                          1tbspn
  • Baby onions                                            2nos
  • Cardamon                                               1/teaspn
  • Water                                                      2cups
METHOD

  • In a bowl mix maida,salt,1egg and water to a loose batter(as for pancakes).
  • Now heat a non stick pan and make small equal sized pancakes of about 8nos.
    (you have to vary the size of the pancakes according to the vessel in which you are going to make it)

  • Take the remaining eggs, add in sugar and cardamon and beat well.
  • Fry up the baby onions and once cooled up add it to the egg mixture.


  • Take a deep bottomed non stick vessel(preferably biriyani vessel), smear it with some oil all over and keep a pan cake in it,then pour about 2big  spoons of  the egg mixture and spread it evenly then put  some cashew,kismis and poppy seeds above it.Repeat this process for all the 8 pancakes.
  • Now lite  the stove and keep it on simmer for about 20-25mins.You can check in if it has been cooked by piercing a tooth pick to it.When it comes out clear it means it has been cooked
  • Once cooked turn it upside down in the same vessel for about 2min and then transfer to a plate and cut into triangular pieces.
