CRISPY FRIED PRAWNS ON SKEWERS

I happened to have these prawns for the first time when i was a teaneger and i attended my cousins engagement.I was like wow prawns on sticks ,,,ahhhh and i enjoyed each bite with both my hands infact, without noticing the fact that  it was a gathering and people are around you. When i looked around everyone was doing the same thing, soeven i was happy and continued my activity. It was infact very funny fully dressed up and digging up into the prawns. But those where very fresh prawns right from the river,as they resided in a coastal area.
Recipes done with fresh sea fishes are always the BEST...
  • Prawns                             6nos(medium sized)
  • Pepper powder                  1/2teaspn
  • Salt                                    1/4teaspn
  • Toothpicks                        5nos
Marinate the prawns with pepper powder and salt and keep them aside for about 15-20mins.Prick the toothpicks through each prawns slowly through its tail, but make sure that it does not come out of the prawns, but slowly reaches almost up the head.

For the batter
  • Maida                                    1teaspn
  • Corn flour                              1/2teaspn
  • Salt                                        1/2teaspn
  • Chilli powder                        1/4teaspn
  • Turmeric powder                   a pinch

Make a batter with the above ingredients. It can be of a slightly loose consistancy,so that your prawns can be well coated with the batter.

Take each prawns dip them in the batter and deep fry them.

When its almost done on one side turn them up to the other side and let it fry. When its almost done evenly turn them on all sides so that every portion gets evenly fried and may gain the same colour and texture on the sides.

Now the crisspy fried prawns is ready to be served on your table for your special guests. You may serve this with any sauce of your choice,i have opted for tomato sauce as we all just loves it, mmmmm.....If you wish you can take off the toothpicks and serve, but i wish to serve it just intact as people can hold its end and enjoy each crunch. with a dip in the sauce
.

 NOTE:
In the batter you may add in some corriander leaves as it gives a different flavour and texture for your recipe.Actually i was not having it back home when i was preparing the prawns so had to quit it..
